Default What can the excess calories you consume do

Here is something intresting that I came across and wanted to share it with you guys. It pretty much shows you what a certain amount of calories could power in the real world if it wasn't stored as fat in your body.

I always wondered what happened to excess calories that I did consume. for example, when I was younger, I could consume a whole can of Pringles at a sitting. I forget the calorie content, but it was at least 2000. is my body taking in all those calories, or do some remain undigested. That was along with 2 footlongs from subway.

that's what I figured. So how do I know what I am eating is getting digested? does the body have a way to say, enough... I'm probably not going to want to check the caloric content of the feces. I was just reading something that said that too much protien causes problems as it is harder to digest than carbs. I'll grab it later but it was a booklet from Rodale.

to much protein can defiently cause problems. Your body will store excess calories as fat usually.

See, now that is a problem. so what is going on with all the atkins people?

How much would it cost to have a personal trainer come up with all my exercise plans, and a nutritionist and dietitian? I need a team working on me. and a masseuse. definitely

Well the atkin thing is really not doing any good at all. Sure it will work for a short period of time.

Not consuming enough CHO will really decrease brain function, it will also cause a process called gluconeogenesis. It will break down lean muscle mass and use this as an energy source. Fat is a great source of calories or energy however you want to look at it. But you can't use fat as a substrate without CHO.

For those who might be wondering what gluconeogenesis is, it is biosynthesis of new glucose, (i.e. not glucose from glycogen). The production of glucose from other metabolites is necessary for use as a fuel source by the brain, testes, erythrocytes and kidney medulla since glucose is the sole energy source for these organs. This process occurs during periods of fasting, starvation, or intense exercise and is highly endergonic.
