Default I'm Getting Fustrated >=[

Been working out 5 days a week for the past 6 weeks.

Lost, like 6 lbs at best(I think).

Each Morning I wake up, go straight to the gym

Day 1:
All Upper Body, Then Cardio for 15-20 Mins

Day 2: Lower Body, then Cardio for 15-20 Mins

Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

I consume roughly 2000 cals a day...I drink water like its going out of style(the water we have here at work tastes bad ass). Saturday I went in to the gym just to do some more cardio, the scale said I had dropped 6lbs from my start weight.

I don't understand. I know I am adding more muscle, I know I am Doing cardio every day, I am not eating alot, but the weight isnt coming off. Am I doing the subtraction wrong or something?

In my arms, chest, and back especially I can feel a HUGE difference in muscle, I feel much more solid and my strength has increased quite well. Am I losing fat and gaining the weight back in muscle at the same pace or what?

I know I have an assload more muscle now than when I started, and I know the more muscle you have, the more fat it eats for energy..thats why I combine RE with cardio...I think thats about all you can do to make your body eat fat.

I'm still keeping up with the program, but its starting to get fustrating:fire

What you should look into is getting a body fat composition with bio electrical impedence, but make sure you don't have any caffeine or alcohol. This might also mean to stop any supplementation you're doing maybe 2 days prior to getting this test done. Hydration levels play a huge part in a correct reading. Compare this to 2 weeks down the road and see where you are at in regards to body fat percentages. It can be really fustrating. It seems as if your losing about a pound of fat per week which is also really good. Also just like you stated muscle is denser that fat which means you should be able to notice a visual difference. How are your clothes fitting. If they are fitting better chances are it's just something your not alble to see. Have you started a photo journal, usually that will allow you to see what you looked like week by week. Another resource we have to all our member is the weight loss tracker.

Where is a good place to get an Electronic BF% test done at? LifeTime Fittness has Personal Trainers and everything else on site, I just dunno if they would have that.

Physically, I have noticed a pretty good difference in certain areas...arms, chest, Lats, Delts...I just still wanna get that fat off. If 1lb a week is "good" in your eyes, then I'll just keep trucking along. Its just fustrating to see a scale bounce around like that when you are doing everything you can to try and get at lower number to appear :complain

yeah 1 pound a week is really good, especially if your seeing the results and your clothes are fitting better. I would talk to a personal trainer and ask them if they will test your body comp it takes about 10 seconds if they want to charge you i would say forget it unless it's very cheap $5. You might want to invest in a body comp i think omron makes a really nice device.

Your diet looks pretty good, but I would cut out the soda. It has the potential to make a significant impact on the calories you are consuming.

Also, Subway, although relatively healthy, uses a lot of salt and preservatives to cure meats in general, as well as their sandwiches have a lot of salt. You may also be retaining water because of the salt that you are consuming, which = more weight. (Canned foods, like the canned pasta also have large amounts of salt in them).

try making your own sandwhiches and do cut out the soda. instead of the bread maybe you could try the wraps or the salads instead.

Jetter,

Your calorie count seems acceptable, but I think you're falling victim to the numbers game.

Ok, bear with me (another random, absurd Vitruvian analogy):
You have a car. Let's say a BMW, since you all seem to love those :-) You're putting in sufficient gas, and checking oil levels consistently. Everything seems up to par. BUT, you're using dirty gas, and haven't actually changed the oil since 2001. The efficiency of the car goes down dramatically if it is not properly cared for. It may have gotten 30 mpg in 2001, and now it's only getting 22. In another 5 years, it might be burning oil.

Now picture yourself as the car. You're putting in sub-par foods, etc. that are hindering your bodies ability to reach the goals you have.

Take no offense to my below comments

Breakfast
Sausage/Egg/Chese(No Bread) 360: Sausage and cheese? A no-no.OJ 260: OJ? Too much sugar!
Lunch
Subway 6" Sandwich 350
Coke 150: Coke? Definite no-no.
Chips 150: Chips? Go with baked.

Dinner
Chef Boyrdee Spaghetti 250:
OR
Tuna Fish 450: Tuna Fish? Homemade?
Chips 200
Beer or Two 150/piece

Total
2460(this assumes I eat both Canned food AND tuna for Dinner)

Overall: quality protein needs increased across the board, complex carbs need increased, simple carbs need lowered, quality fats need increased, and saturated fats need lowered. I will guarantee that by doing these, the volume of food you can eat will increase, and even the calories may increase. End result will be fat loss though.

Get back to us with more questions, and don't be discouraged by my "tell it like it is" manners. :-)

All the chips I eat are baked...they just taste better.

I didn't know OJ was a no-no...other than water or coffee any good morning drink? I HATE coffee..the smell..the taste...everything about it.

My Tuna Fish is always home made =]

I have maybe 1 coke a day, I honestly don't even like soda anymore now that I haven't drank any in many many moons, it makes me all wired and hopped up.

I'll address further later, but just wanted to clarify: OJ isn't bad for you, just not a weight loss drink. Essentially, its 200-some calories that will not be applied to anything useful (only your trouble areas!).

keep workin hard... i'm no nutritionist, but it sounds like you are making good strides. why get hung up on the numbers on a scale when you yourself said you are seeing SIGNIFICANT improvements in the way you look/feel?

look at it this way, if you are gaining more muscle and staying at about the same weight, you HAVE to be losing fat, right? just keep at it... sounds like you're doing fine to me.

+1 on the body fat % testing. i signed up for it at school last month but missed the day... they only do it one day a month :(
