Default I want to switch it up

i really want to switch up my lifting routine.

my goal is to add more full body type things.

i have only incorperated dips into my routine and i love the way they are shaping my back and legs...but i want more.

i usually do presses, curls, and a few other machines at the gym. what i want to really do is get to a point where i dont use the machines so much and use free weights and my own body.

make any sense ?

Makes total sense, so what you want to do is look at multi joint exercises. For example squats instead of leg extensions

that is bizaree. I normally never have a problem with push-ups giving me a headache. Are you looking down or straight ahead when you do them?

i look straight ahead....occassionally ill look down but i really try hard not to.

i decided that i would love to start doing handstand pushups (if josh would help me)

but i did incorporate more pushups into my lifestyle and i am beginning to feel a difference, my goal is to get my arms back to where they were when i was in gymnastics

How's your blood pressure? I like to do cow to cat poses to get the spinal fluid moving before I do pushups and keep a good plank posture while doing the pushup to keep from squeezing too much. I do my handstands against the wall. If I am careful I can do them with my feet on the bed, but I usually hit my head that way.

well, I don't think it is something measured. But the way you hold your head up might be causing a pressure. That's why I said I do the cow and cat poses to arch then bow my back, it gets those juices moving. You might want to try to do some head rolls before you do the push ups, and look at the floor, not the wall.
