Default popping sternum

Is this normal? I have a number of joints that I can pop... some fingers, wrist, ankles, back, etc. But since I've started working out I've started getting this where my ribs meet in the middle of my chest. It seems especially tight (ie. in need of a pop) after dips.
What exactly happens when you pop a joint? My mom always told me I'd get arthritis.
Ideas?

Austin the chances of you getting arthritis is slim, it's pretty much an over use injury. Popping or cracking is pretty common especially in athletics I would only really worry about it if you have discomfort or pain.
