try some dumbells, they're a lot harder than barbells b/c of all the stabelizer (sp?) muscles that you have to use that arent used or used nearly as much on the bar...

I have to agree with mike on this one, dumbells would def increase overall strength taking into consideration that one arm is always stronger than the other. You are also not locked into a specific range of motion allowing your GH joint more fluid motion.
