Why don't you tell us a bit more about yourself and what you've tried? Also, how old are you?

Welcome

Hi there.

I'm 18 years old and have been skinny for as long as I can remember. Everyone says I need to eat more, but it's hard for me to complete large(r) meals. The places where I am skinniest include my wrists and my ankles. I'm not to the point where I look like skin on bones, but I'm definitely below average on the weight/height scale.

I like to play sports, but I've never really lifted heavy weights. I played varsity tennis for 4 years in high school, but it wasn't something that required a lot of sheer mass or muscle.

I'm basically looking for a plan that will help me increase my overall size and give me some more strength. Researching on the web, I've gotten nothing but mixed opinions. Some sites claim that the only way to go is moderate weight and on a daily basis, while others swear by heavy weights and short sessions a few times a week.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Either of those methods will work... you just have to decide how well it may work for you, with your body and your time schedule. You need to start out with taking a weight gainer. With a weight gainer it may make you gain a little fat, but it is easier to put on muscle with a little fat than starting from being really skinny.

This guy's gone, right? Well, the following might help him if he's still here or someone else who comes along.

It's easier to drink a thousand calories than it is to eat that same 1,000. Stock up on protein drinks - the homemade variety (milk, peanut butter, eggs, ice cream) or the store-bought powders mixed with whole milk or even water if you're lactose intolerant.

I'd definitely recommend the three workouts per week with heavy (for you) weights and lower reps versus the daily workouts which I believe will simply burn too many calories and also not allow you sufficient recovery time.

Yeah, good points. I was 6'4-150lbs and got into protein shakes and steady routine of weights (not as much as I should've, but better than none at all) and now up in the 165 realm.. If I had more dedication and had stuck with it, I'd probably be higher, so it DOES work. Just have to stick with it. Dont be a slacker like I am.. haha.
