Ok, you partially answered it yourself! While anabolic steroids may be ketosteroids, the opposite is not necessarily true.
I consulted with Dirk, AN's resident brilliant mastermind, and this is what he said: Plant keto-steroids, at least in the case of cissus, are phytochemicals with steroidal characteristics- if you broke them down, you would indeed find some steroidal substances (androstene and a few others) in nominal amounts in the compound- the reason why it is so good at healing fractures lies at the root of this- some of the keto-steroids in cissus actually compete with glucocorticoids for receptor sites, making it anabolic/anti-catabolic.
