in my opinion I have never had a better tasting protein than muscle milk. This is not based on whats inside but purely on taste.

A lot of gyms that are exclusive tend to carry APEX products, their a little on the high price side if i remember correctly. Congrats on the new job. Why not make a new thread and tell us about it.

I used to take Muscle Juice 2544 as a weight gainer a while back. It tasted just like chocolate milk although it had a lot of empty calories. Now I use ON 100% Whey. It tastes like shit.

Always liked ON chocolate the most. I mix it with water, not milk.

As for how much I consume... depends on the day. For the most part, I only take it as a pre/post workout supplement. If I happen to not have enough food with me, or I can't stomach eating any more at a particular point during a given day, then I will use it to fill the gaps. As pre workout (which I often don't do) I take around 25-30 grams. Post is 50 grams along with a bunch of carbs.

Fantastic advice earlier on casein vs. whey!

Does anyone know if there is any benefit or drawback to using milk over water? I've been wondering about that.. I just use milk because Im in love with chocolate milk.. and I didnt think chocolate water sounded as good.. but, im still curious.

Milk vs water is based solely on your taste, and goals. When cutting, the sugars in milk can actually be a bit detrimental to fat loss. Thus, water is the obvious choice. For someone looking to gain, milk is an option (and it tastes much better than water).... but a better bet (bear with me here) is water with heavy whipping cream added.

Does the ratio of water to protein per glass have any effect on digestion?

I haven't read anything to state that it really would. Assuming proper hydration at least.

There are several factors factors affecting digestion and absorbtion. One that I would look at would be the fat contents of your shake.

If your looking at water temp of the shake will also influence digestion.

I've always heard that the most your body can actually use at one time is 25-30 grams of protein. Anything more just goes to waste and right through you. So the extra 20 there wouldn't even be used at all really. But like I said, thats just what I've always heard.

Oh, and I use ON 100% Whey....Double Chocolate with (skim) milk personally. I've been drinking skim milk my whole life over others like 1% or 2%

I hate dietary generalizations. That may be true for some, but not all... not to mention the other variables.
