Default How many miles do you run a week?

For me, I run atleast 1 mile on the treadmill for warmup. On cardio days I end up doing about 2.5 miles on the treadmill.

I go to the gym 5 days a week.

Yes, I ll have to agree with josh in that New England conditions are not the ideal place if your a runner who loves the outdoors. But I still try to make it work for me. But I deft enjoy breaks back down south running on nature trails and all that. Usually as far as my routine I run at 2 times a days 7 miles in the morning then 4 in the aftn or evening. To be quite honest I find that while treadmills are a fine way to get any excericise in, I am not a fan of it because for me 6 miles on treadmill gets boring and I feel its easier to stop versus running outside! But any running is always a great way 2 stay in shape and clear your mind!

I agree, I get bored after 1 mile!

I'm going to start running outdoors on a trail we have close by.

Thats awesome, Believe me it beat the treadmill and you wil find yourself just running miles on end with out even realizing. this is also a great way to up the endurance level and firm up those legs. Sometimes if you need a break from running because even the lovers of runners gets tired. You migh want to try going to stadium nearbye and running stairs that is amazing workout with fast results, another thing I like to do as alternative is go 2 a stadium work out hurdles and lunges around the track! Yes, I know this may seem a bit odd because it looks odd when ur lunging or do awkard motions around a stadium but again the results are awesome. ! Cheers! Happy Trails!.... Maker sure u have a good ipod mix that will help make the run fun and believe me it will just pass you by!

Oh, I'll definitely have a good mix ready. I picking up all that Nike+iPod gear specifically for running outdoors...The stadium stairs remind me too much of football when I would have to run them for a good hour for being 2 minutes late I'll give it a shot when it dries up some though as I see myself just running everywhere. Thanks for the tips.

Awesome, I love a great mix though I am more of new balance and asics kinda of girl when it comes to my running. Yeah I can just imagine the football memories with the stairs, but just another alternative I likfe to do if my area is limited or need to work on specific areas. But yeah, though I am sure you wont got bk to them I deft know the world of football drills all two well some hardcore stuff their. Anyhow, have a great outdoor run your going 2 get addicted to it! Cheers!

Those of you who get bored after a mile, are you physically or mentally bored? Ive been running off and on for a few years now and it's always amazing when I run. I never make time to run consistently so when I run 2.5 miles straight I am physically feeling like I am dying but I really love the feeling.

It's the accomplishment, for me. As for the topic question, the past two weeks Ive had the time for my outdoor trail runs and it's been 2.5 miles a day 5 days a week. 12.5 miles a week for the mathematically challenged. Not that much..

Ok you're right about that.. when I ran on a treadmill in the winter I was bored unless I had my Zune tuned to the TVs on the wall.

Josh, are you proud of me? I am posting on the forum and clicking ads left and right. More than 8! ;)

I love running too much to ever be bored. I wish I could run further unfortunately my body isn't in shape enough yet to do ultra-distance.

Currently, it depends on the week. I can't go more than a day without running even if I swim and bike otherwise I feel so out of shape. I'd say anywhere from 30-50 miles a week. Training for a half-marathon, marathon and a couple Half-Ironman distance tri's later this year.

Congrats on going to run that half. Post your workout for it if you wouldn't mind in our running section. So we can not only build that up but so other can compare it to what they are doing.

I have been enjoying the run lately. I have tuesday and thursday mornings off, so I ususally do 5-7 miles then, depending on whether I feel like speed or distance. Then on Friday I had fight with the wife, so I ran 7 miles at race pace, broken into 3 runs, with one hour break. Basically I ran 2 miles to a meeting, stopped and noticed that the meeting wasnt for 45 more minutes, ran 3 more miles, then after the hour meeting, I ran home. that was a hot run for me.

The past couple of days I have convinced the wife to get out and run, so my distance is only 3 miles, and she ran without me once, woo hoo. Friday she leaves for Mexico for 9 weeks. So the summer is for speed! I plan on shortening my distances, increasing the times per week from 3-4 to 5-7 and adding a long run. I like to keep my weekly totals to about 25-30 so that I do not kill myself, the goal being to get my 5K time under 20. Then the end of August I will go back to a mix of speed and distance in prep for Disney Marathon in January. I would like to break 4 hours. That means 9 minute miles. Long term, I want to go to Boston, but that means 8 minute miles...

So to answer the question, about 20-25 miles right now.

1. RI is not NE its CT's beach and Boston's parking area.

2. every road is an awesome trail in NE.

3 find a mountain. In Manchester CT I had a mountain outside my door to do real mountain biking. Now I run on the worlds longest continuous sidewalk. 3.5 miles along bayshore and it is completely flat.

4. just do it
