Question Ankle Weights

Is it beneficial to run with ankle weights? More specifically, what does running with them do for you over time?

If you want to increase the work load while you run I would look into a weighted vest rather than ankle weights. I feel that a vest is a safer approach especially once fatigue sets in.

i have tried ankle weights before, and they really made me feel like i was a slow runner but then once they came off i really felt a difference in how fast i ran. i compare the feeling i get to running up hill vs flat land...but i do agree, the vest is probablly a lot safer.

How would the ankle weights harm you more than the vest? Just curious.. I have some that I use now and then.. don't want to be causing more stress on my joints if that's what the problem with them is..

Their is more weight on a joint who's main point is to provide stability. The chances of you falling also greatly increases in my opinion. With a vest you can actually carry more weight and have it dist. over the body and not having to worry about that weight causing you to trip as much.

I find a vest will help more with running, ankle weights help me more with agility
