Default Training is going well

I have been increasing my mileage for the past few months. I felt great after that off-road marathon in November, but this has been the best month ever.

Last week my mileage was 50 for the first time. I ran an 18 mile long run yesterday, that I kept getting faster and faster. Today I ran a smoking 8 miles. I still have a couple more weeks of training, one more 20 mile run (I did one last week) and then it is taper time, for the marathon on February 10!

My goal is a 3:55 which means a 9 minute pace. If I feel like I did today, I will most certainly make that.

I know the weekly totals says 49 miles, but the calibration has been fixed, it was short. There are a few workouts missing so some of the short weeks really aren't.

The marathon is Sunday. I am stoked, I trained well and tapered well. Now I am carb loading and a couple short easy runs before sunday. Weather is going to be clear and cool. Perfect.

Race report to follow

update.

Last week was a 61 mile week. I have been running in the AM a few days, and I did a double on Wednesday. I missed monday, so making that up if I start daily running I should be able to get past 70 MPW.

The plan is to do about 4 weeks of speed work in April for the 5K May 7th. The Summer is my winter, and I will try to maintain, and then I am looking at either Hartford CT or Chicago in October for a marathon. I am planning on using one of the Pfitz 70 MPW plans.

That's the plan at least.

This was a big increase what what you've normally been running. How are the knees dealing with the stress.

not really. I had three 40 mile weeks before the marathon in January, then a taper in and a taper out, and a couple more 50's. So it's not too much too fast. My knees feel good, I had a bit of tendon swelling, but I restarted the Osteobolin and bam, it was gone.
