National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) joins the National Institute of Arthri
DALLAS, Nov. 30, 2006 – The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) today announced that it has joined the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) Coalition.
NIAMS’ mission is to support research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of arthritis and musculoskeletal and skin diseases, the training of basic and clinical scientists to carry out this research, and the dissemination of information on research progress in these diseases. In support of these goals, NATA will provide top researchers and clinicians from its membership to serve on the NIAMS Coalition and attend NIAMS Advisory Council meetings.
“We’re very pleased to have been accepted as a member of the NIAMS Coalition,” said NATA President Chuck Kimmel, ATC. “We look forward to working together to accomplish our common aims.”
“It’s exciting when the objectives of several unique organizations dovetail so seamlessly,” said Rebecca Minnillo, MPA, director of government relations and planning for the Society for Investigative Dermatology and NIAMS Coalition chair. “The invaluable expertise and experience provided to our organization by NATA’s experts will help us in our mission of combating and overcoming debilitating musculoskeletal diseases.”
