Default Citrus Breakfast

I know what its to get up at the crack of dawn before a great run not wanting to over due it before you run, While plain oatmeal is great, for me I prefer doing something light 2 such as citrus fruits are always great. Whole foods is a great places 2 get oranges, grapefruits and other citrus. One of those is always a way 2 boost a bit of energy and not fall to heavy on the stomach before the run also helps boost the immune system. You might also want to invest in a great juicers to I love making a good citrus juice with just pure juice to help boost my runs, its a great alternative if you dont like to eat the full fruit get all the good vitamins in a drink! Great jumpstart to metabolism! Hope that helps!

Crazy, I've been doing this for the last couple of days already. Eating fruit for breakfast instead of the oatmeal and eggs. I'm trying something completely new for a few months, to compare it to the way I was eating (was still healthy minus the Oreos). It doesn't quite fill me up the same way, well it doesn't really at all. So my snack comes a bit sooner, but that's fine. Giving up on the "eat at this time and this time" stuff. Just listening to my body, eat when I need to eat.

Yeah I can understand that , everyones body different. That is a good choice always listen to your body. If u need something a lil more you might want to try to add fruits with non fat sugar free yogurt with organic whole grain toast with some fruit that will give you more of a variety. My nutrionist always recoment that we dont try to put too much into your body like for example have 3 large meals during the day perhaps try a few more smaller healthier meals throughout...He also coined this term of what he calls "grazing" We do have a tendency to snack during the day... In order to help supress unecessary craving for the junk food like oreas and all that stuff. He says that its good 2 prepare or buy a health snack tray that you can have throguh the day with healthy alternatives for snack cravings instead of the oreas for that sweet craving try yogurt and fruit. or veggies and what not. But I agree listen to you body and good luck!

I have found that eating just fruit in the morning makes me more hungry throughout the day. If I have some protein + carbohydrates, such as peanut butter on a banana, or eggs with some whole wheat toast, I feel better the rest of the day.

I used to HATE oatmeal but i forced myself to eat it all summer and now I actually look forward to it. I think you get used the warmth in the morning. But i must confess i used the reduced-sugar flavored instant kind, i'm working up to the plain!

the flavored kind is like the devil...you will get SOOOO many more benefits with the plain and you can add some honey to it if you still want some flavor.

Ok what exactly are the problems associated with the flavored oatmeal? is it the sugar? because last i checked honey was pure dextrose. I used the reduced sugar kind, at 120 calories, which is well below what many cereals carry. I enjoy it , it keeps me full and i am not entirely convinced that it will send me to an early grave...unless someone cares to dispute?

I will have to look at the back of each box to compare next time i'm at the store, that is a really good question.

it depends on how many grams of sugar are in the reduced sugar kind, in comparison to how much honey you are putting into the regular kind to sweeten it up. Your body treats honey and white sugar as the same substance, so it does not matter where the sugar comes from.

you can also add fresh fruit to the regular oatmeal to sweeten it up.
