Default Guilt Free McDonald's Swap Alternative

Tempted?

Chew The Right Thing!

MUFFIN LOVIN'

Why would any sane person chomp on a McDonald's Egg McMuffin when they could have a practically identical tasting morning sandwich with far fewer of the yucky calories and gross fat grams that the Micky D's version has? Plus, making this lighter and leaner breakfast sandwich is faster and easier than waiting in that drive-thru line.

Ingredients:
- 1 regular size Thomas' Light Multi Grain English Muffin (or Western Bagel Alternative English Muffin)
- 1 slice Kraft Free fatfree American cheese or Veggie Slice or SmartBeat Slice
- 1 slice Healthy Choice Smoked Ham (or other lean, thin-sliced ham)
- 1 egg white

Directions:
Simply cook an egg white in a pan using non-stick cooking spray and toast your english muffin. Once toasted, place a slice of cheese on the bottom half of the bread, followed by the egg, a slice of ham, and the top of the muffin. Enjoy!

Tip: For a nice buttery taste, spray the insides and top/bottom of toasted muffin with "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray.

I have everything I'd need except fat free cheese- those three words are a joke in my home when used together. Of course I'd substitute a couple strips of bacon for the lean ham :)

Sophi knows how to cook! + rep

using the whole egg is fine, you can also just use egg beaters.

Correct. EggBeaters is a better choice, IMO. The egg yolk is what carries the fat and yucky stuff....but some think it's the best tasting part of the egg.
"Fakin' Bacon" or lean turkey maybe to replace the ham?

LOL. I was teasing ...I don't care much for pork, ham whatever either, but on occassion I'll have Canadian Bacon or very lean ham. The thought of that piggy squealing is unpleasant and although I am not a true practicing Hindu, as are my parents, the cow is sacred ....go figure.

You could also use soy cheese if you didn't want to use fat free cheese. Egg beats I believe is still egg, if you wanted to you could use an egg sub.
