welcome. I find that motivation is best found doing things that you enjoy for an important reason. So if there is some extra thing that you would like to buy yourself, a special, expensive item. Pay yourself $10 every time you go to the gym. So $10 X 3 times a week for 26 weeks, gives you $780 to spend guilt free, and you will have achieved two goals at once.
Good luck, and keep us informed Shaw

Bad I know. For lunch generally it's either a lean cuisine or whatever lunch vendor is at the office for the day. Tuesdays is pizza day, but I'm cutting that out starting tomorrow. I'd like to save myself $7 a day and start bringing my lunch, but I'm picky. As far as the gym, when I joined Golds Gym 3 years ago, I basically did 30 minutes or so on the elliptical and then used some of the weight machines. I gave up after it got more crowded and it was difficult to get on the machines I wanted. Plus it was out of my way and got fed up with the traffic lol. Then I joined Curves which was right next door to my old job. That lasted about 6 months or so. The machines did nothing for me. And the people there seriously had poles up their butts and were so unfriendly, that I stopped going. About a year ago I joined a new Curves-like place but after a few months they closed due too lack of membership. They were better because in addition to the circuit training machines, they had elliptical machines. So now I joined LA Fitness. I have a free session with a personal training on Wed, so we'll see if he can suggest some exercises that I won't find boring. I'm excited though because they also have a basketball and 4 racquetball courts. On Tuesdays, they set up volleyball on the basketball court. They also have various classes that are included in the membership, but I haven't looked to see whats available when I'd be there. Last edited by Julz; 08-21-2007 at 01:34 AM. |

Julz those luna bars would be your best bet, especially if you're on the run. Maybe look at sam's club or costco. Most breakfast sammachies have around 600+ calories.
But you're right the biggest problem you're going to have is finding something that you enjoy. Do this write down your whole day in 30 min intervals then look to see what you're doing that you can move around to do an hour of exercise per day. From there plan our your meals for the next week. When you go to the gym if you don't like the tons of people try to avoid 5-7 thats always a super budy time for people 8 on is a great time and even in the AM. Talk to your trainer and see if he can do a body fat test for you the first day you meet. Chances are the gym uses a method called bio-electrical impedence which takes less than a minute to show your results. This will give you something to check with every other month or so. This is the best method compared to just weighing yourself. Also make sure you find the right set and reps that you find challenging. Don't worry about all the hype you see and read about a woman should do tons of reps and no weight. |

I have been good and haven't had the breakfast sandwich in about a month. I convinced myself that it wasn't so bad since it was turkey sausage and egg whites haha. I'm going to try one day to get to the gym before work but I am not a morning person so that may be difficult. Otherwise I will have to go after work. it's not too bad since they have a lot of machines, but I'll still give the morning a shot.
