Well, bout 3 weeks to go. I weighed 163 this morning, so that is right on track. I was worried about losing the weight, but I got the flu and didn't eat for a week or so, and voila! I was lighter! :D According to my scale by bf% is low 16, upper 15's now. I feel just as strong, really have been focusing on the cardio side.

I've been researching a few of the other guys in my bracket and plan to go up there with a notebook and notes on everyone our guys are fighting. Knowledge never hurts!

I get a little amped up when I start looking at the other guys... and I had a dream last night that I did really well in my first fight, so it seems as if my subconcious is starting to believe! Haha

Got my first "KO" on a guy last week. Perfect hook to the liver, dropped him like a sack of rocks. If I've learned one thing... tough guys can shake off most head shots. NO ONE can shake off a solid liver shot. Those SUCK and will disable you. I now focus on the body. :D

Not a GREAT tool, but good for the home and accurate enough for the price.

When I used to have to cut to 189 for wrestling I would make sure I was 191 at home because I would weigh in at 188.8-189.0 on a more accurate scale.
I try to weigh myself at the same time with the Tanita scale.

Yeah the good old flu weight loss program. It's as good as my Bronchitis ab workout.

I have never been able to shake off a head shot so well. But my liver is shot if that counts.

Woot! For the first time ever today, I made my boss tap out. He's a Ju Jitsu wiz and I FINALLY got him. Took 20 months to do, but I finally did. :D For an example... Randy Couture couldn't make him tap when they rolled.

I've been drinking about a gallon of water/day lately to get ready to cut weight. Went to the gym last night and rolled hard for about 90 minutes... dropped 6 pounds! When I got to the gym this morning I was ~165 so I think if I just keep my diet clean and keep eating 5 small meals a day... I can head up to the tourney in the low 160's. Then that cut should be EASY if I stay hydrated. I'm starting to get excited... for some reason, a lot more things have been "clicking w/ my Ju Jitsu the past week or so and I've been doing a lot better.

Oh... and Cauliflower ear SUCKS. It sucks even more when you have a fight coming up and can't take time off to let it heal. Bah! I'm looking forward to being able to eat what I want again after this. :D

Haha, weight was 163 this morning so as long as I don't go on some huge bender, I'm set for that. I'm having a friend drain my ear tonight. Heard it's quiet the unpleasant experience, thankfully he also has lidocaine, so I might get a bit of that first. The joys of having one of your best friends be a nurse. :)

I am damn ready for the weekend to be here... I just want to get it over with! Heading up there on Thursday, so we'll have plenty of time to cut weight. I dropped 6 pounds in 90 minutes on Tuesday, so I think it will come right off w/o any issues.

Yeah... not quite as I planned. :D Popped my left eardrum and my right knee. Probably going to see a doc on Monday for the knee.

theodore, if there is one suggestion i could make, it would be to practice some combo punches/kicks. You had a nice reaction right before your first takedown, but there was no follow up. the leg sweep to the knee was good, but again there was no second hit to it.

the other thing i would say is that you need more sparring. You got clocked solid to the head. you never moved, blocked or countered. With him being so tall, when he opened himself up with the head punch, a good forward kick to the liver would have rocked him, and then followed through. He also opened himself up badly with that slow hanging spinning kick. That was an opportunity lost there too.

the lack of focus in any one area shows the weakness in MMA. the hunter that chases too many rabbits usually goes hungry.

Lastly, Footwork, footwork, footwork.

good luck on the next one buddy.

Thanks for the feedback, that's actually the first REAL feedback I've gotten. After watching it many times, I am really pissed I wasn't more aggressive. That was that guys biggest weakness... he doesn't take punishment well.

As for the getting hit thing... I 100% agree that my standup needs a ton of work. The problem I have is that I don't really care when I get punched... I just keep on keepin on. haha. I've walked right into some big hits during training. I love goin after the liver too, it's worked for me in the gym a lot.

As much as I felt more comfortable in there, I can see everything you are mentioning now. I needed to push push push and I didn't. I didn't even get to use much ju jitsu since my knee popped. (which BTW I'm thinking is meniscus damage). But my ear drum came back this week, so I'm happy about that.

Saw a doc today (finally) and he's thinking ACL and lateral meniscus. I looking to have an MRI done in ~2 weeks then we'll know more. Bah....

And according to the MRI, I don't have an ACL left in that knee. Meniscus is fine, but I also have a severe bone bruise on my tibial plateau. That being said, the knee is pretty damn stable, so we're going to wait another 5 weeks or so, take another look and see how it is. He has a feeling it will start becoming more unstable, and it did give out on me yesterday. So, probably looking at a surgery in the next month or so.

Welp, had an ACL reconstruction on 8/20 and am in healing mode now. No other structures were damaged, but the ACL was shot. So I had an allograft (cadaver achilles tendon) put in. Everything has gone pretty smoothly, just had my stitches removed today. 2 more weeks of crutches, then I lose em and start physical therapy. Looking at 6-9 months from surgery before I can be active again, so that would put me in Feb-March most likely before I can get back in the gym. I lost 12 pounds in 10 days... gotta love atrophy!
