Default My goal

Currently I weigh about 205-210 depending on what time of day it is and what I have eaten during the day.

I leave for basic training in August, which should give me plenty of time to get to my ideal weight, 185-190, by the time I ship.

The problem is I am a fair weather runner. I ran cross country for 3 years from 8th grade until my sophomore year, so the bad part is that I still have the mentality to take off and hit 10-15 miles and do each one between 6 and 8 minutes.

However, thats not the case anymore. I started running last month about this time to improve my time on my PT test, which I got in 7. But it's been so cold lately I havn't been up for it.

Basically if I can't run without a shirt and flex when I see girls I don't want to run!

I'm also looking to increase my pushups, my big problem is with my triceps. Right now I can do 60, and I figure I'll be able to get an extra 10-15 after i get rid of 15-20 pounds, but what are some of the tricep workouts some of you do?

What kind of running workouts do the rest of you do?
Long slow distance? Timed miles? Hills? 400's, 600's, 800's? Plyometrics?

I'm a big fan of dips for triceps always have and always will be and pushups also. One thing you might want to look into is a weighted vest. I use to be a personal trainer for the department of defense a couple years back. One of the problems i have with large amount of reps that you usually see in a military setting is just huge reps without regard to proper form, even with proper form joints articulation is going to take a pounding which our bodys just aren't made for. Using a weight vest would be a way to over come the large amount of reps and still get the result your looking for with your dips and pushups. It's also a safer way to use weight in there types of exercises. At least that is my opinion.

i have a 20 pound vest but im sometimes reluctant to use it because it makes me feel weak, haha! It's something I have been thinking about using more often, I think I am going to.

i got really good at doing pushups was by doing them right after i do a exercise that involves using your chest/tris...an example

do a set of bench/incline/decline or w/e then do 20 pushups. and throw in a few good burnouts in there.

when i run, i run slow, unless its for a race. running slow burns more fat off anyways
