Default My humble goals

I had my first appt with a personal trainer at the gym today. Basically, I feel fat. My % body fat is 33%. I won't be able to go back to the gym this week until Friday (which is my next appt), due to Midterms. I picked up some various meal replacement bars that she recommended. I also picked up some yogurt, some fiber1 cereal, some orowheat light bread, etc. Oh, and some salad greens.

Basically I plan on sticking to this diet and I NEED to go to the gym at least 4 days a week. I absolutely hate the way I look and feel. It's absolutely embarassing.

I would like to lose a total of 30lbs (to bring me back to my trim state that I was at 3 years ago). My dad is 61 and he works out everyday and eats great. He has like 15% body fat and weighs 145lbs (5'6"). I have a very good metabolism, and I don't see any reason that I won't be able to reach my goals.

That's about it for now. :az

The nice thing is that you'll be able to reach your goal by june, I'm always a little apprehensive about any fitness profession who right off the bat pushes a supplement. At this point what needs to get done is finding out what your daily caloric intake is which can be by analysing your gas exchange or by following a simple formula. Then start recording everything you consume. Once you actually start loggin down calories you'll make smarter or better off more aware choices of what you put into your body. Now there is a difference between getting carried away and really restricting to hardly any calories and just recording what your eating. which is the point I'm trying to get across, we just want to make you aware of what your typical caloric intake really is.

As far as weight loss is concerned a the majority of it is goign to come from proper nutrition with the rest weight training is going to be supplemental to whatever else you are doing. I find it's best to actually plan out what your going to eat for the week this way your mind and mouth doesn't wander.

I don't even wanna know how many calories I consume a day. It's probably ridiculous. I eat garbage food (fast food, candy, snacks, cookies, etc) all the time. I have made very little attemps at actually doing something about it. But I guess sometimes it takes a significant weight gain to wake you up and make you do something about it.

I tried to log into it, but it won't recognize my username/password. It also wants a different username when I try to register. :az

good luck with your goals, and dont get discouraged. dont try to implement everything at once because you may feel burned out and turned off by it. like josh said, record your daily caloric intake, dont be embarassed or shy about it because that will be an accurate starting point on which you will make your life change. again good luck and keep us updated.

So I just had my first diet-type breakfast. I had a container of Yoplait Thick and Creamy Light with 1/2 cup of Fiber1 cereal mixed in, for a total of 140 calories and half of my daily fiber. Damn, it was good too.

Last night, around 8pm I was really hungry, but didn't know what to eat. I opted for this protein cookie thing. Holy shit, that thing filled me up! I think I may be able to do the eating portion.

It sounds like you are definitely headed in the right direction, but it's sometimes tough to stick to a drastic diet change. I think that if you stick with it, you can reward yourself every week maybe with a candy bar. Also, it's a good idea to take measurements and/or before and progress pictures of yourself as you diet and exercise. Nothing motivates you like seeing results in a picture or on paper.

Keep up the good work!

The lady took all my measurements at the gym yesterday, and I snapped a couple pics of the fatness this morning.

This week I have 3 midterms at school (genetics, plant physiology & biochemistry, and organic chemistry), so I've been studying any free second I get. I'm going back to the gym tomorrow at 11. The diet is working out fine so far. I'm really looking forward to working out. I can't believe that I played soccer for 9 years, and ran varsity track at my school my first 3 years there. Damn, I miss running.
