Default Sophia's Goals

With EFF's new implementation in the works-the nutritional facts thingy-, I've decided to post my fitness goals and expectations.
I have always been thin my entire life. However, as I've stated in previous posts, I desire to obtain healthy eating habits that will become second nature and will stay with me throughout my life. I've been keeping a food journal and staying within 1,400 to 1,700 calories per day. I've done this for about 2 and a half months now and it has helped me tremendously. I was actually able to see in print my bad eating habits. I've made healthy substitutions for fatty foods-bad for the heart and replaced them with healthy fats-nuts, olive oil, flax seed oil, salmon etc. At first it was a bit difficult but I have now become accustomed to my new eating style. I now make my own pizza! Anyways, I work out everyday except Sundays- Mon, Wed, and Sat is 45-60 minutes of circuit cardio and Tues and Thursday I've been doing pilates and yoga. I feel I've lost too much weight

From the info on the forum I feel I need to build muscle.
I'd like to tone my arms, and tummy a little more.
Any suggestions? Should I consume more healthy calories so's not too loose anymore weight? I don't want to cut back on the cardio because I LOVE IT!

Thanks all,

I would replace your yoga and pillates with RE (resistive exercises).

What do you suggest? Resistance with weights?
Do I need to eat more so I won't loose more weight?
I think the cardio is making me loose too much?

I wish I had more solid advice to offer you Sophi- I'm no expert however.

Do you like to ride bikes or swim? resistance doesnt have to be weights all the time. I'm thinking of joining a gym just to use the pool- I love to swim and it's great for your whole body.

I don't think stopping cardio is a good idea, you can always benefit from cardio. Resistance exercises should be done with weights or bodyweight simple dips, push ups squats, squats combined with a press would work also. Like i've mentioned before to other people if your lacking in equipment pick up a medicine ball and some tubing.

I'm working on getting a database with exercises up also, so my responses might be slim to none this weekend.

how much weight have you lost so far? what is your BMI? as long as you are in the ranger for normal (above 17.5) then you should be fine and not concerned about having to up your caloric intake.

I started out at around 117lbs-118lbs or so. I just weighed my self this morning and I'm 101lbs, BUT I'm normally around 100lbs-105lbs and extremely active.
Every year from mid October to the begining of January I literally pack on Holiday padding of about 10+ lbs or so and for some reason I remain sedative and inactive those months. I loose my self during the Halloween treats and through the New Year's appetizers:) This year I truly hope to have developed some solid eating patterns were I will not give in to my usual temptations which lead to my demise of extra weight.

Female, 23yrs, 5'3", 101lbs

I got this info elswhere-
Your Body Mass Index (BMI*) is 17.9.
Your healthy BMI range: 19 - 24.
Your current weight is 101 lb.
Your healthy weight range: 107.3 - 135.5 lb.
Your current calorie need** is 2569 calories daily.

I'm definetly eating less than 2,569 calories a day. I take in around 1500-1700 or so. I'm going to increase my intake by 500 calories or so with fiber/grains, and more veggies(I eat plenty of fruit) and more salmon and roughy.( I love salmon!)
I feel I need to tone up the arms and thighs so I won't feel so skinny.
Yeah, I need to gain muscle weight, no?

Geez... 101lbs., you're tiny! j/k

I'm sure you'd be fine with push ups, lunges, bar dips, etc for a while then maybe work out on some machines.

Oh and...

i thought in a previous post you said you were a size 6/8 and wanted to get to a 3/4....i have never met anyone in my entire life who was 118 and a size 6. just up your claories and ease on the cardio. not a big deal...i just find that at 101 you are not a size 0...odd.

That is the most clever way of asking for pics I've ever seen. Great job :thumbup

i agree with you. it just sounds odd. what is your waist and hip measurements. at 5'3'' you should look like a skeleton at 101, so either your scale is off or you lost fat and just need to build up muscle. i am 5'1'' wear a size 2 and im about 115 and have a 26" waist and most people say im a small person. so my adivce, easy on the cardio and hit the weights...and eat a bit more.

My cousin wears a 6 and she's tiny, but she's got a booty and hips. I don't think it's "odd". LOL. Are we saying someone is not being honest?
That's not nice jk.
Her previous post was back in January I think. Maybe she was bloated and lost all her Holiday padding? lol
Livewell, who cares about a dress size number? I've read a few of your previous posts and I agree that learning to eat the right foods and get the right amount of excercise is the main objective.
Just be healthy and "livewell".
I like the idea of small changes like the parking lot tip and taking the stairs.
Maybe Najonairpic is right and you should post your pic to clear things up?

just eat more and do less cardio but definately keep up with weight training...if your BMI is 17.9 that is just too close to being underweight and that is NOT healthy so change what you are doing ok.
