To really develope leg muscles are hard you need to provide a load that the body is not use to handeling. Most men have a problem of acheiving muscular legs. But it you really want to minimize leg utilization a hand ergometer would be a great start as it uses the arms, even with more resistance your legs are not used.

bike=working out legs and like running can increase the leg muscles.

just focus on your workout or listen to some music while you row. i think bsb4tyke gave you some good advice about just doing the row machine, its a great workout.

I don't think we have one of those, though.

anything that will get your heart rate up will work, if you want low impact check out a cycling bike.

The bike might be worth a shot. Try using speed rather than resistance to elevate your heart rate, though. If you put it on a lower resistance setting and spin (High RPMs while keeping your legs in control) you'll still get a great cardio workout. It will also build your legs much differently than if you were to do a high resistance cycling workout and you'll lessen your chances of hurting your knees.

When cycling, use the toe straps, and utilize the entire rotation of the pedaling stroke. Push on the downward part of the stroke, and pull up (that's why you use the toe straps) on the upward. Once you become more comfortable with that, you can start working on maximizing the parts in between up and down, too (such as the bottom part of the rotation)

Adjust the seat of the bicycle so that at the very bottom part of your pedaling stroke, your leg is almost fully extended. If it's too high and overextended, it will be impossible to cycle smoothly, and if it's too low and you're not getting enough extention, there's a good chance you'll hurt your knees.

Hope that helps, good luck.

Yeah that helps a lot. Are the bikes where your legs go outward better or worst than the ones where your legs go down? Or are they about the same?

I think it's a matter of comfort, i like sitting down when i bike some like sitting up.

I really like rowing and would like to get a rowing machine that i could hook up via ethernet and compete against other people.

Oh I love rowing but I have ADD after 5 minutes I want off if I don't have entertainment. It sucks that my gym didn't wire a TV up to it.
