Default Kate's Goals

I'd like to drop at least 15 lbs by May, if possible. I was about 160 lbs (I don't weigh myself and don't own a scale) at the middle of January. I think I've lost about 5 lbs thus far with 1 day of running/walking a week (my boyfriend said that it looked liked I had lost some weight). I'm trying to do Pilates, but I barely have any time with my schedule as it is.

I've changed my diet to include more protein and less "empty carbohydrates". I've completely eliminated dairy in my diet, and I think it has also contributed to my weight loss as well.

Here's my before pic:

15# by that time frame should be attainable. Especially if you shoot for the 2 lbs per week. Have you found out what your suggested caloric intake should be

i just used the caloric calculator and it's approx 1500 calories to maintain my current weight. How do I estimate the amount of calories I need to intake in order to lose weight safely.

the more lean muscle mass you have the faster your metabolism would be. I would reduce your your caloric intake but make sure your eating a good balance. If i recall correctly your a culinary student so that shouldn't be to hard for you.

I would start off doing 3 days of weight lifting and 2 days of running, a week for starters.

The vital equipment I think is a theraband or similar tubint, a medicine ball, and a small set of weights maybe 8 lbs or so. If you want you can also get a couple jugs which you would hold water in and fill it with sand for the time being.

exercises

squats
lunges
backward lunges

squats with bicep curls
squats with shoulder press
squats with a lateral raise
side squats

wrap tubing around a pole and you can do lunges with a chest press
bend over rows
squats with a row

dips on a chair

pushups on the medicine ball.

Those are just a couple of the exericses that come to mind.

Not a problem, I'm working on getting images licensed so I can create a directory of exercises.

Kate, just take a little time a day (weather permitting) and walk/jog around your area! Those hills are killer. I bet 30mins a day would be more than enough cardio.
