Default Help with muscle soreness

What are your guys' tricks for dealing with muscle soreness? I am still sore from my 4.2 mile walk on Sunday, and a bath isn't helping. I will attempt to use my moist heat pad tonight and see if that makes a difference.

stretching before and after a work out. also stretch while you are sore, it will REALLY hurt during the stretch but then you wont be nearly as sore (or not sore at all) for the rest of the day.

where I'm sore is the sides of my butt (close to the thigh area). I'm not sure how to stretch there.

sit in a straddel position and slowly move your chest towards the floor keeping your legs and knees on the floor. remember to exhale as you stretch foward.

to get an additional stretch, in the second picture instead of just leaning foward a bit, try to touch your feet to your forehead.

DOMS is going to pretty much set in no matter what you do the only way to beat it would be not to push yourself so hard, your body is not use to that work load.

There is nothing you can do to avoid DOMS.
Don't take advil(ibuprofen) either, it stunts muscle synthesis. If you are in unbearable pain, take tylenol instead.

DOMS = Delayed onset muscle soreness you typically won't feel this until 48.001 hours after a workout. Just kidding its actually 48 hours afterwards. :fire

i had taken tylenol PM, as the pain was keeping me up at night. Today is the first day that I am not sore.

yes, thank god. It has nearly been a week since I last excercised because of this soreness. I'll be walking for a while tomorrow.

RICE- Rest Ice Compression and Elevation. When my legs hurt I used a frozen gel pack. Before I bought the gels, I used frozen strawberries. Ice right after exercise.
