When you lay down a strand of pearls, each individual pearl is laid down one at a time, so basically as you lay down, your lower back touches your lower body first and then your head is the last thing to touch your body as you stretch.
Here is a picture of a bridge and here is a picture of the shoulder stretch basically that is the starting position and you keep your hands stationary while you scoot your butt foward and try to lay down. hope that helps |

Livewell is right yoga really helps get you flexible. You might want to get a basic hatha yoga book. The one I have is called, " A Guide to Yoga" by Janice Jerusalem.
