Default VO2 Max

Anyone ever use a Suunto watch? Specifically the T6?
Any ideas on increasing VO2 Max?

I've seen the ads for the suunto, and they seem to have a good HRM. Their big number thing, is a handy tool for people to keep in the arerobic training zone and limit the overtraining. Polar has a built in test as well.

polar's test takes two minutes of lying down. I can count it as my meditation time. I used to do it once a month, and I found that my number went from 40 to 51. I did it a few times in the past few days, and my number went to 45. I think that it may be from overtraining a little bit.

So, I can't help with the Suunto specifically but if you are in the market for an HRM from what I've seen, they seem OK.

SportsMedJosh - I'm a recreational triathlete and self-defense student. To answer your question directly, yes I'm a runner.

Cabezon-Thanks!!!

Josh, I'm going to email you another excel file that is the Rockport VO2Max test.

it can be found here

The number that the polar watch comes up with looks like ml/kg/min since the number is 45 to 51.

Also try this method. Since you can't do a true Vo2 max test your best bet it to do different vo2 sub max test. This is always one of my favorites

1 mile walk vo2 test

that's the same method, except that the rockport has the formula built into the spreadsheet.

SMJ, I'm going to try the VO2 max test you suggested. I went out and got a $50 polar watch heart rate monitor with the chest band. Looks like you saved me some serious dough.
I printed out that huge detailed physiology post. Looks like I'm the science dork who is willing to break it down and learn it. I Greatly appreciate your dedication.

Awesome polar makes a great product. I believe you can even save the data to your computer. Let us know how everything goes.
