You've got to up the effort. Anything can seem like a workout if done properly.

Hi everyone! I used to row crew to for River City Rowing Club. Rowing in an 8person boat is fun, and sometimes frustrating because all 8 need to be in total sync. During the winter months, when the weather was too bad to be on the water, we practiced on the erg. I liked it so much, I bought a Concept II. I have plenty of workouts for the erg if anyone is interested. Good form is important. If your back hurts afterwards, you're not doing it right.

I paid $800 for a new one. I found 2-3 locals selling theirs used for $600. You can tell that someone isn't a rower when they don't know what an erg is or how many meters they have on their machine. lol Another cool function is that you can take the memory card + saved workouts/results with you to the gym, etc. Another reason for the purchase is that the gyms don't maintain the ergs like at the boathouse. The chains are all rusted , etc.
