Default Rowing/Erging

Just wondering how many of you guys go rowing or erg for your cardio. If not I highly recommend it. This was my first year on the men's crew team at WWU and I swear, nothing trims you down more.

I love the erg this has to be my favorite piece of cardio equipment. 15-20 minutes then an hour on the treadmil is what i use to do. But the ergometer is def a great piece of equipment. I would love to get one for my house.

yeah, an erg or ergometer is a rowing machine. if done right should be a 70% leg workout.

I have used the rowing machine but it didn't seem like I was working out very hard.

You've got to up the effort. Anything can seem like a workout if done properly.

And have to get the right form on the erg.

It's all about the 500/meter split.

Hi everyone! I used to row crew to for River City Rowing Club. Rowing in an 8person boat is fun, and sometimes frustrating because all 8 need to be in total sync. During the winter months, when the weather was too bad to be on the water, we practiced on the erg. I liked it so much, I bought a Concept II. I have plenty of workouts for the erg if anyone is interested. Good form is important. If your back hurts afterwards, you're not doing it right.

How much did the erg cost you? They have really gone far now in design and concept. I think the nice features that are to die for now are the ones you can connect and actually race other people.

I paid $800 for a new one. I found 2-3 locals selling theirs used for $600. You can tell that someone isn't a rower when they don't know what an erg is or how many meters they have on their machine. lol Another cool function is that you can take the memory card + saved workouts/results with you to the gym, etc. Another reason for the purchase is that the gyms don't maintain the ergs like at the boathouse. The chains are all rusted , etc.
