Fast walking like slow jogging or running? I heard that fast walking was better for loosing weight. Is that true?

This is a great question. Here is what you should do heard over to our resources sub forum and download the Target Heart Rate and Running PDF fill out the the spots for the equation and set the intensity for around 60 which is 60 percent of your max heart rate. I would then suggest ideally that you try to build up to do at the min 45 mins of cardio. But to answer your question yes slow long duration exercise is best for using fat as an energy source.

I think its easier to start off with a low intensity workout for a longer ammount of time. For me running for 20min is so hard but I can speed walk for an easy 45.

Also, keep your joints in mind. Going from no running to a lot of running beats your body up quite a bit. Ease into things, and you'll be able to run/jog injury free for a long time

I started to loose weight was by moderate walking for 30 minutes a day. Then increasing as how I could handle. I now do mostly elliptical due to the fact that I can burn more in shorter time.

definately starting out with something slower and less intense will really boost the confidence and habits of working out. just doing it regularly will help out big time.

to burn more fat you would want to target your heart rate to around 55 - 60% of your max heart rate to really use fat as a substrate and it would need to be at a min of 45 mins before you would actually use lipids as an energy source. On the other hand your concerned about losing weight and that is simple calories used used compared to calories that you took in. You really have to look at what will burn the most calories for you, keep in mind also that exercise is like a supplement to proper nutrition. The real gains are going to be seen when you are able to get control of your nutrition.
