To me now, the similarity almost ends with the fact that they both are ground techniques. Completely different goals and whereas in wrestling youtry to pin your opponent, thats just a nice rest in ju jitsu. There is no end to ways you can make someone tap out!

To be honest, my view on the transition is going to be biased since I've never seen a JJ guy switch to pure wrestling. We get a LOT of guys that have wrestled coming to the gym. They get all gung ho, get a big take down and have absolutely no clue what to do from there. Then its easy pickings... haha. I've had a minor concussion from a wrestler on his first day since he thought he needed to prove himself. I didn't really have an issue when I started at the gym since my only wrestling background was from middle school (7th and 8th grades). I do still get asked if I was a wrestler for what its worth....
