Next fall we're going to try and train for some competitions if we can get everyone showing up regularly and be dedicated (always a lot to ask).

Good luck on your fight. 170 has some big bangers, and least make sure your standup defense is ok or it could be :wave ;)

What rules do you fight under, Octagon or Ring? Elbows?
Thats awesome man! Have fun with your ne wazas. Sounds like a good set up you have. 170 does have some big boys... I'm a pretty stocky 174 right now. Never done any strength training with the MMA, so I might start that and make myself SOLID at 170. I'd love to fight at 155, but I'm not sure I can get my body there in a healthy condition. I'm well aware of the knock out... If I fought tonight, it would go to the ground in about 3 seconds. My instructor said there are a few guys at our gym that are interested in fighting at 170. Be a good set up for a first fight since we're both going to be nervous as all hell. If its this one kid that I had a few other guys telling me I should fight, I am.... well... confident. To say the least.

Rules-wise, its essentially octagon, but no elbows allowed in amateur fights.

I'll be looking for a biiiig slam, think Rampage/Arona and knees. Its amazes me how little effort you can put into a knee and make the person hurt.
