The most reliable, but most expensive and hard to find is going to be underwater weighing. Next, would probably be a Bod-Pod. (Air displacement). If you could get one of these done, great.
More likely is the impedence test. Not extremely accurate, BUT, it is accurate for use by the same individual to check their progress. So to compare yours against someone else's.... not a valid read. To compare your reading to your own reading later.... pretty valid. Calipers.... unreliable in most cases, as they rely way too much on human skill. (too much room for human error).
Random info-Old school bodybuilder technique for mapping progress: Measure the bicep unflexed. Record the reading. Measure it flexed. Record also. You'll see there's a size difference. In the future, you do the same. If the difference is bigger, you're losing fat/gaining muscle. Difference stays the same, or gets smaller..... fat!
Summary: The most reliable method is..... (drumroll) the mirror!!!!
