Alright, details details.
I left at 12:30 and headed over to a street called Lida. If you look at the map, you'll see "Brookside Golf Course". The twisty road heading East is Lida, and it's a pretty short climb followed by a fun downhill. Where the road starts heading North is Chevy Chase. It's a pretty fun climb, but it reminds me of something important to remember when you're working out:
Your mind controls your body. Don't focus on what is ahead, focus on what you're doing at that moment.
The climb on Chevy Chase is only a few miles, but your mind knows that it's only the start of the ride. You start defeating yourself before you even get to the hard part if you focus on what is ahead. Do what you're doing don't let the futures pain defeat you in the present.
10 miles into the ride is where Angeles Crest Hwy. starts. If you take a look at the map, it's right around the 210 (Foothill) freeway. From there it's about 19 miles of climbing untill Mt. Wilson. I ate a banana at the top and headed back home.
All in all, the ride was close to 60 miles. I drank 65oz. of water and 40oz. of gatoade. I ate one peanut butter and jelly sandwich (on wheat bread) before the ride and one banana during the ride. After returning I ate chicken, california rolls and plenty of water.
Here's a picture (not taken by me) of the view you're rewarded with at the top of Wilson.
That's it for now, I'll update w/ whatever workout I squeeze in before bed.
