Today was a mountain bike ride, so there's not a whole lot to report on. 3.5 hours total, w/ total elevation gain of about 2,000 feet. The ride up is a fire road that is pretty wide, so it's boring and uneventful. The ride down on our first loop took us down another fire road, up some narrow single track, and down a rutted out double track. We found our way back to the original starting point and headed back up the original road.

Now, my dumbass, for some reason, didn't eat breakfast. I also didn't bring enough water, so by the time the second climb started, I was out of water and out of energy. It wasn't to the point where I couldn't go on, but my pace was slow and I felt like crap. We took some really narrow singletrack on the way down, lots of stream crossings, steep and rocky sections, and plenty of long falls if you mess up and veer off the track. My friend actualy snagged his bar on a tree and fell off a section. I could have sworn he was going to be dead, but somehow he escaped w/ some cuts and brusises. I'll have to post pictures of the trail sometime. Plenty of action.

This really doesn't count as part of the training log, though. Just an update on what I did today. Total distance ridden was about 15 miles.

If there is anything to remember, it's stay hydrated and make sure you've got food in your system. There is no worse feeling than hitting that wall because you didn't fuel your body properly or having a headache the rest of the day because you didn't hydrate properly. Tomorrow is a road bike ride, I'll try and take some pictures and post the details of the ride (distance, time, etc.)
