Some interesting points raised here.

I am aware that EPOC is post execise oxygen consumption, the theory is that by working at higher intensity i.e. larger weights etc, one increases the level of EPOC after your workout. There are claims that the metabolism is increased significantly.

It's not that I don't like free weights, it's more that I don't have enough experience using them. I'm not averse to using them and will consider introducing more free weight activity in to my routine over time.

Thanks for all the input, it has got me thinking a bit more about things.
